A LONDON-based artist will be coming to the Evergreen Art Cafe in Daventry at the end of the month.
Neil Carroll will be visiting the Sheaf Street cafe on Saturday April 27 where he will be doing live painting. The cafe will also be promoting its summer menu.
The self taught-artist, has been looking to pursue a career as a painter for years, however real life got in the way. However, with time now available to him, he has been painting since 2011.
He is influenced by the likes of Rembrandy, Turner and Pissarro.
Neil said: “I don’t try to paint what is in front of me, I try to paint something with atmosphere and interest based on the subject. I remove as much detail as possible and paint as broadly as my mood allows.”
There will also be a new collection from the artist Sarah-Jane Szikora including her ‘We Are Not Amused’ piece.
Outrageously exaggerated figures and animals, naughty food and gingerbread men form the main subjects in the artwork created by Sarah-Jane.
She said: “There is an obsession in our society about appearance, everyone is on a diet or opting for cosmetic improvements; “why is it we dislike ourselves so much?”
Her work is also characterised by the fact that she had and has overcome an eating disorder.
Also at the event will be a representative from Jamie Oliver’s JME brand to sample all of the JME products we stock in the gallery. Pip from the Tea Gift Company will also be with us to showcase her unique gift products,
This event will take place inside and outside of the gallery with Neil painting live outside, along with food sampling taking place outside of the gallery. There wll also be samples of the menu available.
The summer launch runs from 11am to 3pm and entrance to the event is free.
