Royalty, drama and fiction in film screenings for area

Sir Ian McKellen, Dame Maggie Smith and Dame Judi Dench can be seen in film screenings to be held in village halls throughout the area during February.

The first to be shown is A ROyal Night out at Welford Village Hall on Saturday at 7.30pm.

It looks back on V.E. Day in 1945, as peace extends across Europe, Princesses Elizabeth and Margaret are allowed out to join the celebrations.

James Bond actress Dame Judi Dench stars alongside Steve Coogan in Philomena.

The film is the story of a world-weary political journalist picks up the story of a woman’s search for her son, who was taken away from her decades ago after she became pregnant and was forced to live in a convent. Philomena is screened at Nether Heyford Village Hall at 7.45pm on Thursday February 18.

Dame Judi also appears alongside Dame Maggie Smith in The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel to be shown at Braunston Village Hall on Saturday February 27 at 7.30pm.

To be shown on the same night is the film Mr Holmes starring Sir Ian McKellen to be screened at Flore Millennium Hall also starting at 7.30pm.
