Folk singer anc comedian Richard Digance appears at the Banbury venue on Friday June 10.

There may be plenty of people who sing, play the guitar and tell stories, but few can claim to have supported Steve Martin, Robin Williams or played a guitar duet with Brian May of Queen. Richard Digance has done all this and more.

Over the past two years Richard has seen huge success, firstly as one of Britain’s most sought after cruise entertainers, and secondly, by returning to his musical roots through major music festival appearances.

He has been a consistent entertainer for the past five decades

Richard’s first own TV Special was in 1985 for Thames TV, A Dabble With Digance, and featured newsreader Carol Barnes.

After the success of this special he was signed to TVS in Southampton after being a studio warm-up act there for Matthew Kelly and this first series of six programmes screened on Thursday nights

More recently, he has been a regular guest alongside Susie Dent in Dictionary Corner on the Channel 4 game show Countdown, during which he performs comic rhymes before the commercial break.

Richard is no stranger to the Banbury area as for several years he performs what is comically referred to as the graveyard slot at Fairport’s Cropredy Convention, playing as the first act on the final day.

Tickets for the show cost between £14 and £16 and the entertainment starts at 7.30pm.

People are advised to book tickets as soon as possible as the concert is likely to be popular.
