Running from Thursday, there was almost 30 hours of live music across three days.

Highlights of the weekend came, predictably, from Madness, who got the audience hitting the high notes ,and the Bootleg Beatles giving us many of the Fab Four’s hits. Not sure that some of the people who dressed up as the Beatles from the Sgt Pepper album appreciated the heat.

But there was a lot of emotion across the three days. Anthony John Clarke and Dave Pegg gave us a moving performance.

For pure delight, the Pierce Brothers, homesick for Australia by their own admission. The duo’s delight at the standing ovation from the 20,000 crowd was as euphoric as seeing a Briton win a gold medal.

It was another strong festival from Fairport Convention and can’t wait for next year.
