People are invited to take a picnic and settle down to watch some family favourites on the big screen with Daventry Country Park’s fourth annual cinema day.
The free event will start at midday this Saturday and run throughout the day.
It has been organised by Daventry District Council(DDC), Daventry and District Housing and Daventry Town Council.
Three animated films released in the past few years will be shown on a large cinema screen in the park.
Monsters University will be shown at 1pm, Disney’s phenomenon Frozen will be screened at 3.15pm and Despicable Me 2 will be on from 5.30pm.
There will also be a range of activities for children including face painting, magic shows and a bouncy castle.
Daventry Area Community Transport (DACT) will be operating a free park and ride service from the car park in Lodge Road to the Country Park, starting from midday.
The event is one of a number of activities planned during Love Parks Week, a national celebration of our parks and green open spaces which runs from July 25 to August 3.
It will be followed on July 28 by the launch of permanent orienteering courses at the park during the first of the summer’s weekly Monday Mini-Adventures from 10am to midday.
DDC’s community, culture and leisure portfolio holder Cllr Alan Hills said: “The Family Cinema Day has become one of the most popular events on the calendar at Daventry Country Park.
“With three great family films to watch, this year’s event promises to be just as successful.
“I would urge people to take a picnic and a blanket and make a day of it.”
