Workers on target to find their winning ways
Week 15 - League One THE first game this week saw the Con Club A host The Workers. The home side took the first doubles game through Ivan Lester (140, 100) and Ray Hobrow (100) only for Andy Swain (140x2) and Taff Hartley to level the match.
The Workers then took the first two singles games with wins for Andy Winters (100x3) followed by Dave Hewitt (121, 100x5).
Ray Hobrow (125, 100) reduced the deficit only for Andy Swain (100) to restore the two-game advantage.
Stuart Coe Snr (100x3) took the final game for The Cons but it was The Workers who won by four games to three.
Game two was held at The Wheatsheaf, Braunston versus Long Buckby FC. The away side took the first doubles game through Pete Shirley (117) and Mick Feasey (140, 125, 100) only for Tom
Kendall (180, 140, 121, 100x2) and 'Swanny' (140x3, 100x2) to level the match.
Gordon Aldridge gave The Wheatsheaf the advantage only for Iain Bow (100) to level the match again. The home side took the final three games through Tom Kendall (138, 125, 100), Ian Stuart (100x2) and 'Swanny' (180, 100x3) giving The Wheatsheaf a 5–2 success.
Game three saw St James A entertain The George. The home side took both
doubles games through 'Hemps' (100x2) and 'Bully' (100x2) followed by 'Juice' (121, 100x3) and Mick Doney (137).
St James then took all five singles games with wins for 'Burtie' (140, 114, 100x2), Willie Taylor (140), Craig Graham (140x3, 119, 100), 'Hemps' (140, 100) and finally 'Juice' (137, 100x2) giving St James a 7-0 victory.
The final game in League One saw The Pike and Eel host Daventry SSC. The home side took the first doubles game through 'Apple' (180, 100) and Dave
Summerfield (100x2) only for Chris Archer and Paul Butler (140x2, 100x4) to level
the match.
The away side took the first three singles games with wins for Paul Butler (119), Ian Ingram (100x2) and Stuart Marshall (125). 'Apple' (180, 139, 100x2) took the final game for the Pike but it was Daventry SSC who win by four games to three.
The first game in League Two saw St James B take on The Plume of Feathers. The home side took both
doubles games through Anthony Leedham (100x2)
and Donna Taylor (140,86,81) followed by Allan Taylor (100) and Gavin Taylor (100x3). A win for Stuart Heath made it 3-0 to St James only for The Plume to take the final four games through 'Shoes' Graham (140,100x3), Neil Dowd, Bob Piper (100) and Michael Christie (100) giving The Plume a four games to thre success.
Game two saw The Maltsters, Weedon host the St James' Minxs. The home side took both doubles games through C Brady and R Franks (100) followed by M Aslett (100) and S Arissol. Wins for N Bayliss (174, 100) and Iain Harper (120, 100x2) made it 4-0. Barbara Maxwell (89, 83) pulled one back for The Minxs only for the home side to take the final two games through C Brady (140, 100x2) and R Franks (100) giving The Maltsters a 6-1 success.
Game three saw The White Horse, Norton entertain The Con Club B. The home side took the first doubles game through Ian Donachie (100) and Phil Turner only for Malc Giles (100) and JP Pickerin to level the match.
Steve Binder (125, 122, 100x2) gave The Cons the
advantage only for Simon Gulliver to level again. Malc Giles made it 3-2 to The Cons but wins for Neil Keeling (100x3) and Ian Donachie (100x2) gave The White Horse a four games to
three victory.
The final game in league two between The Dun Cow and The Wheatsheaf B, Weedon was postponed.

n The Charity Cup registrations are due by next league meeting on March 25, late entries will not be accepted. The second-half season fees are now due.
