Matlock 14 Towcester 30

TOWCESTER jumped to fifth place in the league, leapfrogging Matlock, after besting the Derbyshire side away from home.

After suffering an early setback Tows forwards gradually got the upper hand.

Richard Tustian finished a line-out drive then Zac Osborne followed suit. Neither try was converted.

Then Tows moved the ball around for Craig Holton to score under the posts.

Full-back Matthew Yuill converted and Tows led 7-17.

Matlock’s Padsey then ran the length of the pitch to score.Maceral landed the conversion and Tows turned round at half time just 14-17 up.

The Tows pack drove a scrum back over the Matlock line and saw Dave Stocks touch down, with Yuill converting.

Yuill completed the crucial win with a penalty and a drop goal.
