Town ladies celebrate home success

THIS week Daventry ladies hosted Coventry ladies for a six-rink match and captain Shirley Shucksmith's rink secured the highest winning rink with a 33-8 victory.

The rink was Stella Spiers, Margaret Faulkner, Barbara Hutt and Shirley Shucksmith.

Rushden were the

visitors for a mixed match on Thursday and in a very close finish Daventry just lost out by 84-86.

Saturday's opposition was a team from Kineton for a six-rink triples match

with the visitors just

gaining the upper hand

winning 105-92. Highest winning rink for Daventry was Madge Austin, Sue Pernyes and Geoff Allen 20-10.

Sunday morning's Wessex League game was against Rugby Thornfield and

Daventry went down 58-104 and managed just one winning rink of Geoff Allen, Malcolm Foster, Adge Smith and Roy Aberdien 21 Steve Smith 20.

This was the last league match of the season and

the league has been won

by Solihull.

In the county fours the rink of Tony Dicks, Mick

Richardson, Duggie Mitchell and Mick Worthington had a 16-12 win over Ray Castle, Tony O'Leary, Ollie Kirkwood and Phil Reeve of

Northampton and District and are now through to the

semi-finals. There was also success for Duggie Mitchell, Adge Smith, Mick Richardson, and Mick Worthington who won 16-5 against P Rhodes, John Streather, Malc

Mattinson, Terry James, from Rushden in the Tipler Rose Bowl Competition. This also puts them in the semi-final where they will be at home to Ken Fitzhugh's rink from Northampton and District.
