Emma achieved a

County Qualifying Time for the 400m IM. This was the first time that she had swum this gruelling event.

Joseph achieved a Regional Qualifying time in his 400m Freestyle event and improved his 200m Freestyle Regional Qualifying time, gained in December. He also gained third place medals for the

200m IM and 400m

Freestyle events.

Joshua Sullivan gained a third place medal for his 100m Backstroke event.

A week later, the

annual Wilkinson Sword Diddy Gala was held at the

Wellingborough pool, with six teams competing for the Wilkinson Sword Trophy.

A total of 16 swimmers from Daventry Dolphins competed in the gala.

Rachel Coates, Chris D'Agostino, Austin Evans, Grace Leong, Hannah

McCaig, Annabel Murphy, and Emily Sharp were all making their competitive debut for

the club.

Disappointingly, there was a shortage of male swimmers, with just four boys bravely swimming the races in the 9/u, 10/u and 11/u age groups.

Despite the lack of

swimmers, a total of 13 pbs were recorded and the team gained a total of 61 points, finishing eight points

behind Corby. Points were awarded from six points for first place, through to one point for sixth place.

Final positions were:

1st, Northampton - 199 points; 2nd, Wellingborough - 146 points; 3rd, Kettering -138 points; 4th, Rushden - 107 points; 5th, Corby - 69 points; 6th,Daventry - 61 points.

Dolphins gained the

following top three placings:

2nd Places: Joseph Iacovides, 50m Br/stroke (Boys 10/u) 00:48:66.

3rd Places: Anna Bennett, 50m Br/stroke (Girls 10/u) 00:47:03 (pb);

Joseph Iacovides 50m Fly (Boys 10/u) 00:38:36.

The event was made all the more special for Megan

Jennings as she gained her first County Qualifying Time for her 50m Freestyle, with a time of 00:39:33.

Dolphins' president Lesley Sharp praised the swimmers, complimenting them on the great effort they had all made.

Commenting on the 13 pbs achieved overall, she said there would have been more had it not been for disqualifications.

She added: "Hopefully

mistakes will be eradicated before the next time the

swimmers compete."

The club are seeking

10 to11-year-old boys to join their squads.
