Long Buckby claimed the derby day honours in Midlands Division Three East South as they saw off Daventry All Blacks 29-13 at Station Road.

Fresh from their promotion last season, Buckby have started the new campaign with a defeat, but they claimed their first league winat the weekend.

Daventry on the other hand have endured a difficult start to the campaign, and this was their second straight league defeat.

The bright spots for the All Blacks on a disappointing afternoon were two tries for James Heath, with Bradley Wardell adding a penalty.

This weekend, Daventry - who are second from bottom - will be hoping to kick-start their season as they host a Northampton Boys Brigade Old Boys side that have also suffered two wins out of two.

Mid-table Long Buckby are on the road on Saturday, and take on a Vipers just one place below them in the table.

Vipers, who were narrow winners over Daventry on the opening day of the season, were edged out 15-13 at Queens last weekend.
