Daventry Rugby Club is celebrating after being awarded ‘Accredited Club’ status by the Rugby Football Union.

The award was presented on Saturday at the end of the club’s ‘BIG Heave’ event at Stefen Hill.

Achieving the recognition of the England RFU through their accredited rugby club status, demonstrates how Daventry RFC have improved the quality of the club over the past few years.

Improvements have been focussed on delivery of a quality playing and coaching experience for players at all ages, better facilities, higher welfare and safety standards, stronger club management and increased commitment to the local community.

It has taken a great deal of hard work and effort from the club’s volunteers who have demonstrated their commitment through a variety of initiatives such as coaching in schools, insisting that all coaches are RFU qualified and even changing the management structure of the club.

The club is constantly striving to improve, and promotion for the first team is a target, as well as increasing the number of youngsters taking up the sport. Off the field, the club has ambitions to make the clubhouse a venue where people will be proud to hold events or just relax.
