ON-FORM Ben Foster got Daventry United off to an ideal start as they scored an impressive double over Deeping Rangers at Communications Park on Saturday.

Foster put United into an early lead with a goal after 15 minutes.

But the Motormen’s joy was short-lived as Matt Heron scored the equaliser for Deeping after 28 minutes after a period of sustained pressure.

But United refused to give up the battle and just as it looked like both sides would go into the interval all square, Jon Crockett restored their advantage after 30 minutes of play.

And the Motormen – who had moved up a gear into the second half – increased their lead after the break with a goal from Ricky Hill in the 46th minute.

And the Motormen sealed their win with a final goal from Will Briscoe with only 10 minutes of the match remaining.

United manager Darran Foster said of marksman Ben: “He has got to play up front. He is a goal scorer and I wouldn’t dream of playing him anywhere else.”
