George North says he was ‘pretty happy’ with his first start in Saints colours after Leinster were beaten in Dublin on Friday night.
The Wales wing played 50 minutes in the 21-13 win, adding to the 20 minutes he got from the bench against Edinburgh a week earlier.
It wasn’t the easiest night for North and Saints as they were stifled well by a young and hungry Leinster team.
But they eventually won through thanks to tries from Gareth Denman and Samu Manoa, plus points from the boots of Stephen Myler and Sam Olver, leaving North reasonably content.
“It was okay,” said the 21-year-old, a summer recruit from Scarlets. “It was a difficult game, with the weather here.
“When we did have the ball I thought our backline did well on occasions. We’ve got to keep on tightening up.
“I felt that myself and Luther (Burrell), the big runners, were being man-marked, but there are other options at the back then to play elsewhere.
“As a first run-out I was pretty happy. You can always get on the ball a bit more and go from there really.”
