East Haddon have secured promotion, and are just one win away from claiming the Northants Cricket League Division Two title.
Haddon go into their final game of the season against Rushden IIs on Saturday, sitting proudly at the top of the league.
The villagers maintained their 10-point advantage over rivals Wellingborough Indiands with a four-wicket success at Kettering - a result that ended the east Northants side’s promotion hopes.
Not for the first time this season, Priyan Pushparajan was the key man with the ball for Haddon, claiming five for 31 as Kettering were dismissed for 137. Guy Sunter also did his bit with three for 27.
Haddon’s reply started well with openers Richard Whorton (35) and Richard Hardwick (27) going well, but there were then a few scares before Craig Burger (22no) and Keegan Muller (21) did enough to see Haddon to 139 for six.
Rock-bottom Long Buckby’s relegation to division three was confirmed as they were thrashed by nine wickets by St Crispin’s & Ryelands.
Warren Courtney (26) and Richard Colton (20) were the only batsmen to make any sort of contrubtion as Buckby were rolled over for just 91. Crispin’s then cantered to 93 for one.
Badby were 10-wicket winners against an outclassed Overstone Park IIs in division five.
Jack Fuller bagged four for 44, Stuart Bonthuys three for 24 and Casey Cooper three for 34 as Overstone were rushed out for just 62.
Bonthuys then hit 36 not out and Andy Humphries 26 not out as Badby raced to 66 without loss.
In division seven, East Haddon IIs maintained their promotion hopes as they enjoyed a 47-run win over Podington IIs.
Nick Whorton (40), Stuart Keeping (38), Duncan Kennedy (31) and Gus Redding all contributed in Haddon’s 180 for five, before Keeeping (5-33) and Ian Hardwick (2-28) shone with ball as Podington were bowled out for 133.
