LONG Buckby ladies needed a convincing win this week, and that’s what they achieved with a 9-3 win over Sutton Coldfield.

Buckby quickly went into the lead with goals from Zara Nichols, Sarah Barnes, Amanda Becker, Becky Scotney and Lizzie Van Der Kuil.

But Sutton rallied back and by half-time the score was 5-3.

Buckby were determined not to let Sutton get back into the game and were quick to secure a number of short corners in the second half which Zara converted comfortably.

Holly Harris was also able to add to the score sheet with a goal in open play taking the final result to 9-3 and securing Buckby with a much-needed three points in the league.

Player of the match was awarded to Vicky Jobling. Top goal scorer was Zara Nichols with a total of four.

Long Buckby Seconds also claimed a well-earned point at the weekend with a three-all draw against Nuneaton Third’s. Sharron Evans scored two goals and Ellie Sale one.

Long Buckby ladies section are looking for new players.

They run two teams in the Warwickshire league, home games are at The Parker E-Act academy, Daventry.
