THE Northants and Hunts Masonic bowling team were playing at Daventry for the first time this week.
It was a mixed game with Daventry winning on all six rinks 140-82.
This was an excellent performance all round especially for the highest-winning rink of Marion Denny, Hazel Wallage, Iris Rolfe and Derek Brewer who won 26-7 against S Dick.
This is Derek’s third highest winning rink so far this season.
Other rink scores were Julie Smith, John Dugmore, Sylvia Brewer and Adge Smith 21 D Volier 16.

For the Daventry mixed team, revenge was sweet this week as having been beaten by the visitors Banbury by nine shots last week they were able to turn the tables and win by 29 shots 137-108 this week.
This was Banbury’s first defeat this season. Captain John Sach acknowledged Adge Smith for playing his tenth game of the season.
With a match-winning score of 33-7 the highest winning rink this time was Margaret Carty, Anne Smith, Alan Davies and Geoff Smith against S Fountain. This was Ann’s third winning rink award. Other scores were Ken Faulkner, John Dugmore, Jenny Hammond and Norman Langdon 24 J Cox 10.

Northamptonshire Ladies played their latest Midland Counties game at Daventry and this time were narrowly beaten by near-neighbours Warwickshire 121-116.
This is the second time the teams have met in two weeks With Northants having won by one shot in the Atherley Trophy competition.
This Sunday the club will again host Northants Ladies in the next round of the Atherley Trophy against Lincolnshire starting at 10.30am.
Just a reminder to all the entrants in the men’s singles and pairs competitions that the first round matches are due to be played by December 22.
