Talented Austin’s trophy triumphs

TALENTED swimmer Austin Evans is currently a gold squad member with the Daventry Dolphins Swimming Club.

Austin, 10, who attends Badby Primary School, has been a member of the Daventry Dolphins for two years.

In this short period of time he has progressed through from the bronze and silver squads to gold.

He trains three times a week and has represented the club in numerous junior team competitions, including at Spalding, Loughborough and Peterborough – as well as competing in internal Club Championships in which he has won many medals.

He recently won gold at the Annual Sprint Championship and gold in the Annual Club Championships – coming first in every stroke (backstroke, butterfly, breastroke and front crawl). He is the current 10 and under champion.

Recently he won a very special Style award given in recognition of his good stroke technique.

He has continued to improve and gain personal best times and gained qualifying times for the 2011 Northamptonshire Amateur Swimming Association County Championships.

And as the new swimming season begins he will be looking to gain qualifying times for the 2012 County Championships.

Austin really enjoys being part of the Dolphins squad and representing Daventry where he has made very good friends.

Asked what he likes about the Dolphins, Austin said: “I really like the coaches because they make the swimming exercises fun and they give us great support.”
