MORE than 100 people attended the recent Rugby Triathlon Club annual awards evening.
Social secretary Ross Wearing organised the event and was master of ceremonies on the night.
The club – which has members from the Daventry area – held a raffle in aid of Myton Hospice and raised another £510 to add to this year’s fundraising, making a total of £1,300 for this very worthy cause.
A total of 52 awards were presented following yet another highly successful year for the club, with individuals achieving fantastic results.
The sport of triathlon attracts people from all backgrounds and the club is extremely proud of their members and reputation for welcoming new people to the sport.
Awards were presented by honorary member Hywell Davies, club chairman John Bryant and race director and founder of the club Garry Haynes.
Club captain Keith Edwards spoke passionately about the club and the performance this season of many individuals.
Keith awarded the Captains Award - Triathlete of The Year – to Sam Anderson.
Sam has enjoyed a spectacular first year in the sport of triathlon, achieving a host of excellent results and representing Great Britain.
Members of the club will continue to train over the winter months in readiness for the new triathlon season in 2011.
