THE first game this week saw DWMC B at home to Wheatsheaf Weedon A and this was a real see-saw battle.

The home side took the pairs thanks to a 2-1 win for Gav Taylor (100) and L. Astill over Brian Farmer and Debbie Farrant (180). They then took the opening singles when Gav Taylor (122, 100) beat Ozzy (125, 100, 115s) 2-1.

But the away side edged ahead when Mick Doney (137, 100 x 6, 112s) beat Willie Taylor 3-0. The home side made it level when Dave Keating (133, 120) beat Max Murray (137) 2-1 but Brian Farmer (140, 100 x 2, 101s) put the away side ahead again when beating Tony Leedham (100 x 3, 100s) 2-1.

This set up a thrilling finish and Rich Ludlow (100 x 5) took the final game for DWMC B with a 2-1 win over Bully (108, 100) to leave honours even after a nine-all draw.

The George visited The Peppermill in game two and the home side got off to the better start taking the pairs 2-1 through Paul Butler (121, 100 x 2) and Keith Chapman (114) over R. Bowyer (118, 100) and Tony Illingworth, followed by a win for Callum Miller 2-1 over R. Bowyer (100 x 2) in the singles.

The away side edged in front when Andy Winters (125, 100) beat Simon Gulliver 3-0 but home wins came for Paul Butler (140 x 2, 135, 100, 106f, 101s) 3-0 over Gordon Eyles and Troy Miller (100 x 2, 116s) 3-0 over Tony Illingworth.

A consolation away win for G. Winters 2-1 over Stuart Marshall in the final game meant The Peppermill were 11-7 winners overall.

Game three saw Caseys play hosts to Con Club and the away side took the pairs thanks to a 2-1 win for Ivan Lester (139, 100 x 2) and Nick Coe (100) over Dave Summerfield (100, 100f) and Chris Gay (140, 104, 102s).

But the singles were dominated by the home side with wins for Nigel Turland (100 x 2) 2-1 over Ray Hobrow (171, 125), Luke Spewnce (100 x 2) 2-1 over Simon Adkins (100), Mark Taylor 2-1 over Robin Peasland (100), Gary Birch (100 x 3) 3-0 over Stuart Coe Snr (100) and finally Chris Gay (121, 117f) 2-1 over Ivan Lester (140, 100 x 2, 100s). This gave Caseys a 12-6 overall win.

Defending champions Slim Jims visited Wheatsheaf Weedon B in game four and got off to a great start when Rich Denis (140 x 2, 100) and Burtie (100) took the pairs with a 3-0 win over Paul Marsh (100 x 2) and H.

The home side hit back with singles wins for Peter Steele (123) 3-0 over Sam Harris (120, 100, 85, 81, 80) and Dave Bangs (140, 100s) 2-1 over Rachel Harris (180, 100 x 3, 85).

But hopes of an upset faded as the away side took the remaining games thanks to wins for Dave Harris (134, 116s, 101s) 3-0 over L. Smith, Rich Denis (140, 121 x 2, 115s, 100s) 3-0 over H (108) and Burtie (100, 112s) 2-1 over Paul Marsh (100 x 2). This gave Slim Jims a 12-6 win overall.

Game five saw leaders DWMC A make the trip to The Olde Sun and dominate the game. They took the pairs when Wadey (112s) and Dave Jones (100 x 2) beat Glen Kilgar and Pete Mullen 3-0. This was followed by singles wins for Dave Jones (140, 100 x 4) 3-0 over Rory Smallbone (140), David Brockwell (140, 100) 2-1 over Lee Arnold (100 x 5), Wadey (125, 123, 121, 100 x 2) 3-0 over Andi Ziadi, Ray Jones (180, 140, 125 x 2, 100) 2-1 over Dale Collins (140, 103, 120s) and finally Screwitt (120s) 2-1 over Barry Green (100 x 2). This gave DWMC A the overall win 15-3 and keeps them top of the league.

Long Buckby FC hosted draw specialists Wheatsheaf Braunston in the final game and this was another thriller.

The away side took the pairs thanks to Swanny (125) and Glen Thompson (100) 2-1 over Ged Berrill (125) and Mick Feasey (100 x 2). But the home side hit back with singles wins for Ray Feasey (133, 117) 3-0 over Paul Hankinson and Mick Feasey (140, 100) 2-1 over Gordy Aldridge (130, 100).

An away win for Swanny (140 x 2, 100 x 3, 152s) 3-0 over Joe Gammidge was followed by a home win for Ged Berrill (140, 100 x 2) 2-1 over Tommy Kendall (105, 100, 101s) to set up a tight finish and a 2-1 away win for Gavin Taylor (121, 112s) over Pete Shirley (140, 105, 100, 110s) means Wheatsheaf Braunston are involved in yet another nine-all draw - their fourth in four games this season.
