Opening games prove a tough encounter

THE first game this week saw Con Club visit Wheatsheaf Braunston and this proved to be a close contest.

The home side took the pairs game when Swanny (100) and Gordy Aldridge beat Ivan Lester (180, 125, 100 x 2) and Stuart Coe Snr 2-1.

The away side hit back with a win for Robin Peasland (101, 100) 2-1 over Glen Thompson (100).

The home side then edged ahead again thanks to a win for Gordy Aldridge (108) 2-1 over Brian Seal (101, 100).

The away side drew level again when Nick Coe (100) beat Adie Maybury (100 x 2) 2-1 then took the lead for the first time when Ivan Lester (100 x 4) beat Swanny (140, 133, 100 x 3, 112s) 2-1 to set up a thrilling finish.

Stuart Coe Snr (135, 125, 100) beat Gavin Taylor (140) 2-1 to give Con Club a 10-8 win overall.

Game two saw defending champions Slim Jims play host to Long Buckby FC.

The away side took the pairs game with a 2-1 win for Pete Shirley (140, 120s) and Ian Bow (100) over Dave Harris (100 x 2, and Burtie (125, 100, 152s).

The home side hit back with singles wins for Rachel Harris (140, 121, 100, 97, 85, 81, 80 x 2) 2-1 over Ray Feasey (102s) and Andy Teale 2-1 over Mick Feasey (180, 139, 100, 115s).

Ged Berrill (123) made it all level with a 2-1 win over Sam Harris (100 x 2, 85 x 4).

Rich Denis (140, 100, 115s, 100s x 2) beat Joe Gammidge 3-0 and despite an away win for Ian Bow (140, 100 x 2) 2-1 over Burtie (140, 125 x 2, 100 x 2) in the final game it was Slim Jims who earned a 10-8 win overall.

Game three saw leaders DWMC A at home to The Peppermill and the away side got off to the better start.

Paul Butler and Alex Miller (140, 121) took the pairs game 2-1 against Ray Jones (140) and Screwitt (140, 100).

The home side hit back strongly with singles wins for Wadey (153, 100 x 3) 2-1 over Clive Hart (125 x 2, 100 x 2), Dave Jones (100 x 2) 2-1 over Callum Miller (100) and Ray Jones (139, 100 x 2, 122f) 3-0 over Troy Miller (100).

An away win for Paul Butler (140, 125, 100 x 5) 3-0 over CJ (125) kept them in it but a 2-1 home win for Screwitt (100 x 4) over Alex Miller (140, 100 x 2) in the final game gave DWMC A an overall 11-7 win.

The final game this 
week saw Caseys visit Wheatsheaf Weedon A and the home side got off to a great start.

They took the pairs game when Bully (140, 100) and Brian Farmer (100) beat Dave Summmerfield (100 x 2, 100s) and Chris Gay (100, 104s) 2-1 and then the opening singles when Ozzy (140, 121, 100) beat Nigel Turland 2-1.

A 3-0 away win for Gary Birch (140) over Dave Bangs (121, 100) put Caseys ahead but home wins for Brian Farmer (100) 3-0 over Mark Taylor (100, 120s), Max Murray (180, 140, 123f, 112s) 3-0 over John Gaul (100 x 3) and Bully (140, 131, 121, 100) 2-1 over Caley (100 x 2) gave Wheatsheaf Weedon A a 12-6 win overall.

Performances of the week came from Ivan Lester (180), Burtie (152 start), Pete Shirley (120 start), Mick Feasey (180), Ray Jones (122 finish), Max Murray (180, 123 finish and 112 start) and Mark Taylor (120 start).
