Week 14 – League One

The first game this week saw The Workers host The Plume of Feathers. The home side took both doubles matches through ‘Wadey’ (100x3) and Ricky Cole (125, 100x2) followed by Ray Jones (100x3) and Steve Cale.

The Workers then took the first four singles games with wins for Ricky Cole (125x2, 100x2), Taff Hartley (126, 125), Christian Jacobs (120, 100) and ‘S’ (123, 100x2). Michael Christie (140, 101, 100x2) took the final game for The Plume but The Workers won by six games to one.

Game two saw St James A take on The Dun Cow B. The home side took both doubles matches through, Rachael Harris (100x2, 92) and Mick Doney (100x4), followed by Richard Denis (140, 133, 100x3) and Craig Graham (100).

A win for Paul Butler (125, 122, 108, 100x2) pulled one back for The Dun only for St James to take the final four games with wins for ‘Hemps’ (140, 100x2), Richard Denis (125, 100x4) ‘Bully’ (180, 100) and Craig Graham (125) giving the St James a 6-1 win.

Game three saw Long Buckby FC entertain The Wheatsheaf, Braunston. The home side took both doubles matches through Ged Berrill (140x2, 138, 100) and Pete Shirley followed by Mick Feasey (140) and Iain Bow (100x2). A win for Dave Jones (140x2, 100x3) reduced the deficit only for Joe Gammage (135) to restore the two-game advantage.

The Wheatsheaf responded by taking the final three games with wins for Matt Edgar (140, 125, 100), ‘Swanny’ (140x2, 101, 100x2) and Tommy Kendall (121, 100x3) giving The Wheatsheaf a four games to three success.

The final game in League One saw The Wheatsheaf A, Weedon host Casey’s. The away side took both doubles games with wins for ‘Apple’ (140, 100) and Nigel Turland followed by Chris Gay (121) and Luke Spense (138, 100). Casey’s then took the first two singles games through, ‘Apple’, (180, 140, 121, 100x4) and John Gaul (100x4). The Wheatsheaf replied by taking the final three games with wins for Bryan Farmer (120, 100x3), Shaun Gibbs (135) and Max Murray (100x3, 102f), but Casey’s won by four games to three.

In the first game in League Two The Bowls Club took on The Con Club. The away side took both doubles games with wins for Stuart Coe Snr (180, 100) and Ray Hobrow (140) followed by Simon Adkins (100) and Brian Seal (100).

In the singles, Stuart Coe Snr (125x2, 100x2) made it 3-0. A win for B Robbins (100) reduced the deficit only for The Con Club to take the final three games through Ivan Lester, Ray Hobrow (123, 109) and Nick Coe giving The Cons a 6-1 victory.

Game two saw St James’ Minxs entertain The George. The away side took both doubles games through Adam Cox (100) and Andy Winters (100) followed by Luke Hickman (108, 100x2) and Gordon Eyles (100).

A win for Kyle Aldridge (100x2) made it 3-0 to The George. Adele Heath pulled one back for The Minxs only for The George to take the final three games with wins for Adam Cox (100), Debbie Clayton and Andy Winters giving The George a six games to one win.

Game three saw The Dun Cow A take on St James B. The home side took the first doubles match with a win for Richie Elliot (123) and Keith Chapman (140, 135) only for Donna Taylor (85) and Gavin Taylor (100) to level. The Dun took the first three singles with wins for Keith Chapman (116), Nev Thornicroft (100) and Clive Hart (125x2).

A win for Allan Taylor (140, 104, 100) pulled one back for St James only for Richie Elliot (140x2, 121, 100) to take the final game giving The Dun Cow a five games to two win.

Performances of the evening was ‘Bully’ (180), ‘Apple’ (180), Stuart Coe Snr (180) and Max Murray (102f).
