Mixed fortunes in darts league clashes

IN the first game this week, The George visited Con Club.

The away side dominated with wins for Andy Winters (100) 2-1 over Simon Adkins (125, 115), K. Aldridge (100) 2-1 over Ivan Lester (125), Stuart Heath (125) 3-0 over Ray Hobrow (100 x 4) and Andy Teale (111, 100 x 3) 2-1 over Stuart Coe Snr (121, 100, 112s).

Con Club gained some consolation when Robin Peasland (125) beat Gordon Eyles (100 x 2) 3-0 in the final game but it was The George who came away with an overall 9-6 win.

In game two, Champions Slim Jims completed their season with yet another dominant performance against Daventry Workers B.

Dave Harris (133, 100 x 3) beat Antony Leedham (100 x 2) 2-1, Mick Doney (123, 100 x 2) beat Rich Ludlow 3-0, Rachel Harris (99, 85, 83, 97s) beat Dave Keating 2-1 and Rich Denis (100 x 2, 160s) beat Gary Wade (140, 125, 100 x 2) before Workers took the final game when Gav Taylor (100) beat Dave Burton (140, 135, 100 x 2) 2-1. This gave Slim Jims an overall 10-5 victory.

The third game this week saw Daventry Workers A play hosts to Wheatsheaf Weedon A. Honours were fairly even early on as Roy Osbourne (140, 120s) took the first game for the away side with a 2-1 win over Ricky Cole (140 x 4, 100 x 2), Ray Jones (128, 100 x 3, 105s) leveled things with a 2-1 win over Paul Bull (140, 100) then Mark Parker (140, 121, 115s) put Wheatsheaf back in front with a 2-1 win over Steve Cale (100 x 2).

The home side then took the final two games 3-0 through Donna Kingston (121, 83, 81) over Debbie Farrant (85, 81 x 3) and Dave Hewitt (100) over Max Murray (100 x 2). This gave Workers A an overall 10-5 win.

Wheatsheaf Weedon B hosted Wheatsheaf Braunston in game four. The away team dominated early with wins for Gavin Taylor (110, 100) 2-1 over Paul Jackson, Gordy Aldridge (140, 121, 100 x 2) 3-0 over Alastair Hawkeswood and Tom Kendall (100) 2-1 over David Bangs (100).

Thomas Babbings (100) kept the home side in the match with a 3-0 win over Glyn Thompson (105) but Adrian Lewis (140, 100) beat Hayley Parker 2-1 in the final game to give Wheatsheaf Braunston a 9-6 win overall.

The final game this week saw The Peppermill at home to Long Buckby FC. It was the home side who got off to the perfect start when Paul Butler (140, 105, 100) beat Ray Feasey (140) 3-0.

However, from then on the away side dominated with wins for Iain Bow (140, 121, 100, 121s) 3-0 over Troy Miller, Mick Feasey (140, 105, 100) 3-0 over S. Berry, Joe Gammidge (140) 3-0 over Stuart Marshall (100) and Pete Shirley (121, 100, 100s) 2-1 over Alex Miller (121, 100, 130s).

This meant Long Buckby FC came away with an overall 11-4 win.

Performances of the week went to Rich Denis (160 start), Ray Jones (100 finish) and Alex Miller (130 start).
