DAVENTRY ladies are celebrating after winning the league title following another impressive result against Old Grammarians.
Other results in the league later in the day went in Daventry’s favour which ensured they secured the title being nine points clear with two games left.
Daventry’s first of five excellent goals saw Hayley Frost thread a pass to Ang Bartlett who squared it to Roni Blyth on the penalty spot who fired home.
Daventry made it two from Hannah Mayhew’s wonderful pass to Alex Meek who exchanged a pass with Amy Dimett before pulling back to Roni who again slotted it home.
The second-half continued with Daventry doing all the pressing so a third goal came as no surprise. The goal followed another excellent move which resulted in Ang scoring.
Roni completed a fantastic hat-trick after a great free hit from Mandy Thompson.
Daventry’s defence continually frustrated OG’s attempts to get back into the game while providing great service to the front runners.
Player of the match Alex, wrapped things up for Daventry with a goal which her performance richly deserved.
The goal came from a short corner from which Alex hit an unstoppable shot past the OG’s keeper.
Daventry conceded three goals in the last five minutes.
But they hung on for another great team performance and a well-deserved win.
