TALENTED James Hassall has enjoyed a very successful karting season.
He entered the Shenington Club Championship, which runs from January to December, and won nine of the 10 races currently this season wrapping up the championship in October.
Former Danetre School pupil James – who is nicknamed The Hoff – started karting at the age of 11 at Shenington in October 2003 and has since achieved many successes in his career. These included winning the British Open Championship which is a one-off race and the winner being crowned with the number 0 Plate. He said: “On top of this, I have won the British Championship which consists of six races from April to October, being crowned the Number 1 plate.
“Along the way I managed to secure a new lap record at Rowrah in Cumbria and became Winter Series Championship Winner at Shenington.”
James,19, of Upper Weedon, studied motorsport engineering at Warwickshire College for two years and started work at Nissan Research and Development in August 2010.
He recently appeared on Dave TV show Driving Wars, in his team which was called the Get Karters and in August 2005 he moved to Jade Karts.
“I certainly wouldn’t have been able to achieve all of this without the team, Jade Karts”
“I would also like to thank my two main sponsors, mum and dad, for their efforts over the last year.
“This year has been absolutely brilliant. Winning the British Championship is an amazing achievement, knowing you are the best in the country at something is a fantastic thing to wake up to!”
“I would love to make it into single seaters or touring cars, which would be a dream come true, however progressing up the ladder is not easy without sponsorship.
“I’d like to be able to take the strain off mum and dad’s shoulders after all they have done for me over the years.”
The British Championship trophy presentation and prize giving will take place at the Ricoh Arena, Coventry, on December 4.
