Daventry Ladies returned to league action with a bang as they battered Rothwell & Desborough 9-0.

Looking a little rusty at times due to the long lay off over the Christmas and new year period, Daventry found Rothwell’s game plan of sitting deep hard to breakdown but still found themselves in a 2-0 lead at half time with goals from Gemma and Julie.

The second half was a different story through. Daventry moved up a couple of gears and dominated from start to finish adding seven more goals without reply.

Julie led the way with two more to give her a hat trick, and Ang bagged a couple.

Player of the match Alex had an excellent game, her hard work being rewarded with two goals. Roni wrapped things up with the goal of the game to take the score to 9-0.

Buckby run comes to an end at Old Sihilians

LONG BUCKBY Ladies IIs’ recent run of impressive results came to an end as they were beaten 5-0 at Old Sihilians IIs.

Buckby travelled hoping to claim their fourth win of 2014, but took on title contenders Sihilians.

Buckby defended with heart, but Sihilians really piled on the first-half pressure and were 3-0 ahead by the interval.

In the second half Buckby fought to come back but lacked co-ordination following a team reshuffle and failed to seriously challenge the Silhilian defence.

Old Sihilians remained strong as the Buckby side began to tire and were awarded several short corners resulting in two further goals.

Buckby player of the match was Sarah Fitzpatrick for making some excellent saves and continuing through despite carrying an injury.
