THE first netball matches of the new season were played with some excellent scorelines.
The first match was Grafton Gate Ladies against Fusion. Grafton made a positive start and pulled away in the first quarter with great shooting and interplay.
But in the second half Fusion started to play more as a team and began to narrow the gap.
Fusion welcomed back Anna Marie Wright after a three-year absence and her accurate, long-distance shooting meant the score was a reasonable 31 to Grafton and 16 to Fusion.
The next match on court was Hornets against Helix. Helix lost a player to injury at the start of this game and had to play with only six players. They struggled to match the fast and accurate pace of Hornets with the final score being 40 to 4.
The third match of the day was new team Duston Ladies versus a newly-formed Flored team.
This match was close from the start with both of the new teams easing in to their play.
But Duston Ladies began to edge away and took the win 35 to 22.
The final match of the day was Cummins against Ashmore Tornadoes.
Ashmore were relentless in their accurate play with Cummins trying hard to stop them. But Ashmore were too strong a team and took a convincing win of 53 to 6.
Training continues at the Daventry Leisure Centre on Tuesday evenings from 7pm until 8pm.
All are welcome.
