Four-goal feast for ladies

LONG Buckby Ladies Firsts’ victory over Warwick University puts them in mid-table in the Warwickshire League Division Two.

Buckby pulled together quickly, putting in some great short passes driving the ball into the Warwick third and attacking their defence.

Amanda Becker took control of the midfield, and with the experience of Carrie Phelan and Becky Askew on the wings, Buckby forwards were presented with many chances on goal.

The first goal of the game came just before half-time, with Sara Barnes on the break, beating the defender and striking the ball clean passed the Warwick goalie.

Warwick Uni fought back putting pressure on the Buckby defence, but some good defending stopped Warwick Uni from scoring.

Long Buckby came out even stronger in the second-half with some sound advice from their coach Malcolm Griffiths.

Susan Fox took the second goal in open play.

The third goal came from a well-worked short corner, with Becker firing the ball past the Warwick goalie. The final goal came not long after with the Warwick defence still reeling.

An error from a Warwick back was pounced upon by Fox taking the final score to 4–0.

Long Buckby Ladies section are looking for new players and all levels are welcome.
