THE Daventry and District Netball League have announced two of their young players have made the regional squad.
Natasha Thomas and Sara Ashmore who play for Grafton Gate Ladies, were part of a final of 40 players who were put forward from counties in the East Midlands with only two of the five who were finally selected to go forward.
Both players are part of the Talent Development Programme in the county and this is the next step on the road to National selection. Congratulations were expressed to both players.
Matches played on April 10 began with Grafton Gate Ladies 33, Barclaycard 29.
As the scoreline suggests, this match was extremely hard fought with both teams using the court to the full.
Barclaycard got the advantage early on but Grafton pulled back to make the score even after the third quarter and during the final few minutes, with excellent attack, took those extra four goals to take a well-deserved win.
The next match was Helix 11, Moulton Meerkats 23.
The Meerkats took control from the start which proved too much for Helix to catch up.
The third match of the day was current league winners G&Ts 14 against Hornets 17.
G&Ts began well and after the first quarter were leading by four goals but Hornets picked up the pace to take an excellent win.
