Perseverance and passion (and a penguin!) were all on show at Sunday’s Daventry Sprint Triathlon when 300 competitors took to the streets of the town and surrounding area to compete.
Daventry’s Jack Bond took the overall men’s honours by completing the race the quickest in 59.17 mins.
Sally Boon, a triathlon novice, won the ladies race in a time of 1:12:02 and Team Rugby Tri Young & Old won the relay in 1:02:27.
Race rirector Garry Haynes, of Rugby Triathlon Club, said: “We’re so pleased that the event went smoothly and that so many entrants enjoyed their experience.
“We’ve had great support again this year from Daventry District Council, Daventry Leisure Centre, volunteers and all our commercial sponsors and supporters.
“The smiles really makes organising this event worthwhile. We hope to see many back again in 2014.”
