Daventry topple leaders

DAVENTRY moved into positive points with a fantastic victory over top of the league Ashby.

The game started well for Daventry as they scored in the first minute from a short corner, with Jacob Till getting the last touch in a goal mouth scramble.

But the work rate dropped and Ashby grabbed an equaliser.

A short corner saw Ollie Dunn knock the ball goalwards only for a defender to clear off the line, leaving the umpire no choice but to award Daventry a penalty flick.

Wez Pope duly converted into the bottom left corner.

After the break they continued to push and Ollie scored to give Daventry a two-goal cushion.

Daventry played a more relaxed style, controlling the game and keeping the ball for large periods.

Ollie played a good ball down the line to Liam Brown and he beat the last defender before drilling a reverse stick shot into the bottom left hand corner.

The win lifts Daventry off the bottom of the table. Wez and Pete Adey shared the man of the match award.

The next game is away at Aston university.
