KETTERING Lodge were the visitors on Thursday at Daventry Indoor Bowling Club for a four-rink men’s match and Daventry were convincing winners 96-68.
The highest winning rink went to Ian Lumsden, Ken Faulkner, Arthur Flynn and Stan Alton 29 N Starsmore 10. Other rink scores were Alf Macari, Phil Goodwin, Alan Saunders and Adge Smith 25 A Shadlow 16.

On Saturday a mixed team travelled to Bletchley and despite sharing the winning rinks three each had a disappointing 98-116 loss.
Captain John Sach was pleased to welcome Barry French who played his first game for the club.
The captains rink led by example, winning with the highest winning rink of Alf Macari, Debs Sach, John Sach and Norman Langdon 21 against J Peters 13.
The other scores were Max Harper, Mary Gillard, Jennie Mercer and Peter Mercer 18 J Docherty 14. John Hayward, Barry French, Barbara Langdon and Brian Gelder 19 C Cole 17.

Saturday also saw the first round of the National Denny Cup competition with two rinks at home and two away against Rushden.
The game started well with the away rinks taking a 23-14 lead at 10 ends but with the home rinks down by the same score.
The match was level 40 shots all at that stage. For the next few ends Daventry’s home rinks found shots hard to come by and only scored nine shots between them over the 11 ends to Rushden’s 24.
Daventry’s away rinks tied at 42 all and the final score was Daventry 73 Rushden 92.
