This week saw the penultimate round of matches in the Daventry Summer League and the first game saw Con Club visit Wheatsheaf Weedon.
Here the away side took the opening pairs game with a win for Simon Adkins (140) and Robin Peasland 2-0 over Ozzy (100 x 2) and Chris Gay but the home side hit back when Nigel Turland and Dave Summerfield (140, 123) beat Ray Hobrow and Hemps 2-0.
The away side took a commanding position with singles wins for Hemps (100 x 6) 2-1 over Bryan Farmer (140, 100 x 2, 130s), Simon Adkins 2-1 over Lee Arnold (100 x 3) and Stuart Coe Snr (100 x 3) 2-1 over Gary Birch (100 x 2) but the home side drew level with a 3-0 win for Dave Summerfield (101, 100 x 3) over Robin Peasland (138, 115, 100 x 2) to set up a final game shootout where Nigel Turland (100 x 2) neat Ray Hobrow (140 x 3) 2-1 to give Whatsheaf Weedon a 9-8 win overall.
Pike and Eel entertained Foresters Arms and it was the home side that took both pairs games with wins for Johnny Allaway (107, 100) and Jake Holdem over Mike Edwards and Geoff Thorneycroft followed by Wayne Jalland (123) and Malcolm Roberts 2-1 over Gary Payne and Connor Murphy (100).
They also took the first singles game with a 3-0 win for Johnny Allaway (140, 100 x 3) over Connor Murphy (140, 100 x 2) before the away side hit back with wins for Dominic Cawley 2-1 over Jake Holdem (134, 100 x 2), Alex Harvey (134) 2-1 over Wayne Jalland and Gary Payne (100) 2-1 over Malcolm Roberts (138, 100).
This meant the match went to the final game but despite a 2-1 win for the away side from Mike Edwards over Ellie Jones it was Pike and Eel who took a narrow 9-8 win overall.
Long Buckby FC made the trip to Daventry Workers and they took both pairs games with wins for Iain Bow (100 x 2, 100s) and Pete Shirley (140 x 2, 125) 2-0 over Willie Taylor and James Taylor followed by Mick Feasey (125, 100) and Ray Feasey 2-0 over Gav Taylor and Dave Keating.
A see-saw battle followed as the home side took the opening singles game with a 3-0 win for Gav Taylor (100 x 3) over Ray Feasey before Mick Feasey (140 x 2, 125, 123, 100 x 2, 120s, 100f and a 14-dart leg) put the away side back in front with a 3-0 win over Dave Keating (140, 120s, 101s).
Back came the home side with a 2-1 win for Connor Taylor over Ged Berrill (116) before another away win for Iain Bow (135, 100 x 2, 130s x 2) 2-1 over Willie Taylor (123, 122, 100) set up a final game decider.
Despite a home win for James Taylor (100 x 2) 2-1 over Pete Shirley (100) in the final game it was Buckby who took the third 9-8 win of the week.
Performances of the week came from Bryan Farmer (130 start), Dave Keating (120 and 101 starts), Mick Feasey (8 x 100+ including a 120 start, 100 finish and a 14-dart leg in his singles game) and Iain Bow (130 start x 2).
