DAVENTRY DARTS LEAGUE: Casey’s prove too strong for Buckby

Long Buckby played host to Casey’s in the Daventry & District Darts League A Division.

It was honours even in the doubles games as the home side took the first game through Chris Lines and Mick Feasey hitting a 180 and 110 finish on their way to a 2-0 win against Gary Birch and Luke Spence.

Then Dave Summerfield and Nigel Turland defeated Brad Burns and Ray Feasey 2-1 in the second. The results were reversed in the first two singles game as Luke Spence took out Brad Burns 2-1 for the away side then Chris Lines saw off Gary Wade 2-0 in the next game.

The third singles game proved to be a cracker as Dave Summerfield hit a brace of ton pluses including a 180 against a not too shabby scoring Ian Bow to win through 2-1.

Dan Wheatley then followed this up with a 2-0 victory over Paul Scott.

Ray Feasey then took the last game 2-0 over Gary Birch as Casey’s won 4-3.

Daventry Town B took on their A team, and came second best as they lost 6-1.

The A team flew out of the stocks with wins for Nigel and Darran Foster over Brecon Hill and Sam Harris, followed by Ray Jones and John Foster seeing off CJ and Paul Bodsworth both 2-0. And it was by 2-0 that both Nigel and Darran then won their games over Sam Harris first then Brecon Hill once again.

Ray Jones could not match this but still came away a 2-1 winner over Dave Harris, following his example Brocky then defeated Paul Bodsworth by the same score line.

CJ then took the only leg for the B team as he took a 2-1 win from John Foster.

The Con Club A entertained Woodford Social Club, who went home with a 5-2 win.

Callum Lovell and Stuart Scarsbrook took the lead winning 2-0 over Robin Peasland and Dave Burton. Ray Hobrow and Ivan Lester could not address losing out 2-1 to Joe Newby and Ricky Cole.

Ivan stayed at the oche but repeated the same score this time to Chris Flynn. Burtie fared no better in his game as Callum Lovell took this one 2-0, Ricky Cole then played an inspired game taking out a 102 finish on his way to his 2-0 win. Ray Hobrow could not save the match but stopped the rot in his game as he defeated Joe Newby 2-1. Stuart Scarsbrook then took the final game 2-1 over Robin Peasland.

In the B Division, Con Club B were hammered 7-0 at Weatherspoon’s, with only Mick Mynard taking a leg in his game against Troy Miller (180). The other games all went 2-0 to the home side as Anthony Mason and Dominic Harvey beat Sue Darby and Mick Mynard, then Callum Miller and Shaun Hicken beat Packy and Bruce Andrews.

In the singles Dominic Harvey beat Bruce once more then Anthony Mason beat Packy, and Callum Miller saw off Roe Binder followed by Shaun Hicken defeating Sue Darby.

The two Wheatsheaf teams met, with the B side going down 4-3.

The Foresters Arms hosted The Workers and it was to be the Workers who got off to a good start as Gavin Taylor along with Rob Mitchell beat Mike Edwards and Bob Stowe 2-0. Then Andy Teale and James Taylor beat Dominic Cawley and Gary Payne, again by 2-0. Willie Taylor continued the winning ways closing out Geoff Thorneycroft 2-0. Gary Payne grabbed one leg in his loss to James Taylor, with Dominic Cawley going one step further in his win over Dave Lovell.

Gavin Taylor then swooped two legs off of Bob Stowe with no reply and Andy Teale repeating this against Mike Edwards in the last game as Workers won 6-1.
