The Daventry Darts League held the annual Ladies Singles Knockout tournament this week, where eight ladies took part and produced a high quality event at the Slim Jims venue.
In the first round, former champion Rachel Harris (100 x 2, 81 x 2) overcame a tough draw to beat Cheryl Astill (100) 2-0 and this was followed by wins for Ki Swain (125, 116, 100, 92) 2-0 over Gaye Gay (84), defending champion Sam Harris (100, 85, 80) 2-0 over Becky Lawrence and Emma Marshall (100, 91, 111f) 2-0 over Donna Taylor.
The semi-finals saw the past winners begin to find their top form and brought wins for Sam Harris (180, 100, 82, 80) 2-0 over Kai Swain (85) and Rachel Harris (100, 95, 81 x 2) 2-0 over Emma Marshall (92).
This set up a final between the pre-tournament favourites and it produced an excellent standard of play as Sam Harris (100 x 6, 97) successfully defended her title with a 3-0 win over Rachel Harris (140, 123, 100 x 3, 97, 85, 81), who failed to take her chances as she struggled badly on her doubles.
Congratulations to Sam, who will have her chance to make it a hat-trick of wins in the next competition.
Performances of the week came from Sam Harris (180) and Emma Marshall (111 finish).
