DARTS: Six of the best from Casey’s is too much for Buckby

Long Buckby started well in their Daventry Winter Darts League match against Casey’s.

Buckby got off to a flyer with M Feasey (100,180,140) and R Feasey (100,140) taking out D Jones (100) and R Jones to make it 2-0. This result was reversed by Casey’s in the second match with C Gay, (100,126) and G Birch (100,100) hitting back 2–1 against P Scott (100,120,100,100) and I Bow (100,100,100).

This match turned out to be the catalyst for a winning performance from Casey’s with the home side running away with a 6-1 victory.

The second match introduced Daventry Town F.C. to the Winter League and they welcomed Slim Jims to their club.

The first two games were shared with the away side taking the first doubles game as J Foster and D Job lost 2-0 to R Harris (81,81,140) and A Mason (140,180,100,113), followed by the home side drawing level through N Foster (140,100) and D Foster (100,100,100,100) beating S Hicken (125,140,100) and D Harris (100,140,100).

Into the singles games and the away team regained the lead as J Foster lost 2-0 to P Butler (100,140). The home side pulled it all square again as A Foster saw off A Mason (100) 2-1 and then moved into the lead thanks to N Foster (100) beating S Harris (140) 2-0. The away side struck back with B Hill (100,116) going down 2-0 to D Harris (100,100,100) and finally T. Miller (121,100) beat D Job 2-0 to win the match 4-3.

Forester’s Arms were a player short for their match at the Con Club B, but took the the first two pairs games as Norcombe and D Taylor (100,95) lost 2-0 to M. Edwards and G Payne and R Binder and S Dorby were beaten by D Cawley (117,100) and G Thornycroft.

Going into the singles, the Con Club B were not going to roll over easily with D Taylor (81,95,100,85,118,100) losing narrowly 2-1 to M Edwards.

This was followed by another closely contested game with R Binder (86,80,95) fighting hard against G Payne (140,100) eventually going down by the same score. Although the match was lost, the Con Club B rallied to come back taking the next two singles games as B Andrews beat D Cawley 2-0 and M Mynard saw off G Thornycroft 2-0. The last game was awarded to Con Club due to Forester’s being a man shy, making it 4-3.

The final match of this week had the Wheatsheaf Weedon entertaining the Con Club A, and this match started well for the visitors as T Babins and P Steele(100) were beaten 2-0 by I Lester (100) and Simon (140,100), and L Arnold (100) and B Farmer (100,100) were 2-1 losers to Caley and Hemps (100). The singles started badly for the home side with T. Babins going down 2-0 to Robin. The rot was stopped for the home side with L Arnold (140,120F) beating Bert (100,100,100). This was the last of the fightback as the last three games went to the away side.
