DARTS: Denis and Harris claim mixed pairs crown

This week saw the Mixed Pairs knockout, where 10 pairs made it to Daventry WMC for the annual event.

There were two games in the preliminary round, which saw a win for Ray Jones (100 x 2) and Chris Butler 2-0 over Clive Hart (140) and Emma (81) as well as a hard-fought 2-1 victory in the game between the two pre-event favourites for Rich Denis (140, 100) and four-time event winner Rachel Harris (101, 81) over Paul Butler (140, 100 x 2) and Donna Taylor (127, 100).

The first round saw wins for Bryan Farmer (100 x 2) and Bex Lawrence (85, 83) 2-1 over Troy Miller (100 x 2) and Ki Swain, Apple (123, 100) and Sam Harris (120) 2-0 over Ray Hobrow (100) and Tina Hobrow, Ray Jones (122, 100) and Chris Butler 2-0 over Rich Ludlow and Tania and finally Rich Denis (140) and Rachel Harris (100, 94, 80) 2-0 over Allan Taylor (140) and daughter Gail.

In the semi-finals, Rich Denis (140, 119, 100 x 3) and Rachel Harris (140, 85) beat Ray Jones (180, 125, 105, 100 x 2) and Chris Butler 2-0 while Apple (108) and Sam Harris (140, 81) beat Bryan Farmer (100) and Bex Lawrence (100) 2-1.

The final was another hard-fought contest where Rich Denis (100 x 4, 102f) and Rachel Harris (80) edged out Apple (140, 125, 100 x 2) and Sam Harris (83) 2-1 to give them the title - the fifth win in the event for Rachel.

Performances of the week came from Ray Jones (180) and Rich Denis (102 finish).

League action resumes on January 9, and all teams are reminded that they will not be able to sign on any new players after that date.
