DARTS: Butler pips Adkins to reach singles final

This week saw the Singles KO heats in the Daventry Darts League, with players taking part at four venues where the winner of each goes through to ‘finals night’.

Casey’s was the first venue and here there was one preliminary round game where Bully (140, 114, 100 x 2) beat Mick Feasey (136, 100 x 2) 2-0.

In the first round there were wins for Simon Adkins (121 x 2, 100) 2-1 over Mick Doney (140, 100 x 2), Troy Miller (100) 2-0 over Stuart Marshall, Ivan Lester (125) 2-1 over Ian Bow (121, 120, 100) and Paul Butler (121, 105, 100) 2-0 over Bully.

The semi-finals saw wins for Simon Adkins 2-0 over Troy Miller (140) and Paul Butler (100 x 3) 2-0 over Ivan Lester (140, 100).

In the final Paul Butler (140 x 2, 100 x 5) just edged out Simon Adkins (100 x 2) 2-1 to win the venue.

At the Dun Cow there were wins in the preliminary round for Juice over Rich Ludlow and Gary Birch (180) over Nigel Turland.

The first round saw wins for Sam Harris (125, 100 x 2, 85 x 2, 81) 2-0 over Cheryl Astill (95, 81 x 2), Pete Shirley (121, 100) 2-0 over Kevin Mills (100 x 5), Luke Spence (140, 121, 100) 2-0 over Juice (140, 100) and Tony Leedham (140 x 2, 100) 2-1 over Gary Birch (180, 134, 100).

Semi-final wins followed for Pete Shirley 2-0 over Sam Harris (100, 94, 85, 82, 81) and Luke Spence (100) 2-0 over Tony Leedham before Luke Spence (100) won the venue with a 2-0 win over Pete Shirley in the final.

There was just one preliminary round game at Con Club, where Allan Taylor (100) beat James Taylor (100) 2-1.

In the first round there were wins for defending singles champion Ray Jones (140, 100 x 4) 2-0 over Ray Hobrow (140, 121, 100), Dave Harris (140 x 2, 132) 2-0 over Robin Peasland (100), Allan Taylor (100 x 2) 2-1 over Gav Taylor (140, 100) and Bryan Farmer (140, 115) 2-0 over Connor Taylor.

The semi-finals brought wins for Ray Jones (140, 100 x 3) 2-0 over Dave Harris (125, 100) and Bryan Farmer (100 x 2) 2-0 over Allan Taylor (131) before Ray Jones (140 x 2, 100) took the venue with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Bryan Farmer (100 x 5) to make his way through to another Finals night.
