Daventry Town B travelled to Long Buckby FC in division one of the Daventry Darts League.
The match started well for the away side as Rachel Harris and Rich Dennis (140 start) came out of their game with a 2-0 win against Chris Lines and Brad Burns.
The home side however settled down quickly after this game and struck right back through Ian Bow and Mick Feasey also on their way to a 2 – 0 win against Dave Harris and Dave Keating.
Into the singles and Brad Burns kept the metal to the pedal as he saw off B Hill with another 2-0 win.
It was down to Rachel Harris to apply the brakes as she made all things even whilst defeating Ian Bow 2-0. Dave Keating could not push forward for the away side however as he too went down 2-0 to Chris Lines. It was Paul Scott who wrapped up, hitting a 180 on his way to another 2-0 victory over Clive Hart.
Rich Denis was to take the last game of the night away from Mick Feasey ensuring the 2-0 theme stayed in tacked. Final Score 4 – 3.
Casey’s travelled to Con Club A, but the match did not start well for them as Gary Birch and Dave Summerfield came away smarting from a 2-0 loss to Dave Burton and Ivan Lester.
Dave Jones and Nigel Turland brought the match level in the next game as they too beat Ray Hobrow and Simon Adkins also 2-0. Simon stayed at the oche and made amends in the first of the singles games as he took both legs without reply from Dave Summerfield.
Two nil was to prove once again to be the winning score throughout the rest of this match, with Burtie seeing off Nigel Turland of Casey’s then Ray Hobrow continuing the home side’s winning ways as he beat Gary Birch. Chris Gay managed to get back the first of the two remaining games as he defeated Stu Coe, but Dave Jones hit a brace of ton plus scores in his win over Ivan Lester despite he himself hitting a 180. Final Score 4-3.
Daventry Town A hosted Woodford Social Club, and it was to be Woodford who flew out of the blocks.
The pairings of Ricky Cole and Callum Lovell and Stuart Scarsbrook and Joe Newby both saw off their opponents consisting of Ray Jones (180) and Denis Job followed by John and Nigel Foster by 2-1 and then 2-0.
There was to be no stopping Woodford as they went into the singles games with Ricky Cole taking out a 110 finish on his way to a 2-0 win over Nigel Foster.
Callum Lovell then hit a 180 on his way to sealing the match beating Ray Jones 2-1.
The home side then made a mini revival. It was a little too late to win the match, but taking back what could prove to be some valuable legs in this closely-fought division.
Bully came out to beat Tom Goswell 2-0, Darran Foster took his game 2-1 against Chris Fynn, with Chris hitting a 180 of his own, and then David Brockwell taking his game 2 – 1 from Joe Newby. Final Score 3-4.
In the B Division, Weatherspoon’s played host to the Wheatsheaf Weedon B.
Anthony Mason hit a 157 finish but it was not enough throwing alongside Ki Swain as they lost out 2-1 to Mark Parker and Phil Smith.
Shaun Hicken and Dominic Harvey brought the match level as they defeated Julian Wickham and Nigel Jones 2-1.
Julian then re took the lead for the away side in the first of the singles games as he saw off Ki Swain 2-1. Troy Miller then levelled the match as he put away Phil Smith by the same score.
Mark Parker was standing for none of this as he put in a 100 start and a 105 finish on his way to a 2-1 win over Shaun Hicken. Anthony Mason then stepped up to in effect take the match for the home side as the away team only had the four players. Anthony beat Nigel Jones two nil. Final Score 4-3
The Foresters Arms were at home to the Con Club B, and unfortunately the Con Club also only managed to take four players with them. Gary Payne and Ian Chapman beat Connor Taylor and Bruce Andrews in the first game, only for Donna Taylor and Packy Andrews to pull the match level in the second as they beat Bob Stowe and Mike Edwards 2-1.
The home side re-took the lead in the first of the singles games through Dominic Cawley as he beat Connor Taylor 2-1. Ian Chapman repeated this score as he took out Donna Taylor.
Gary Payne struck the fatal blow for the home side as he then defeated Packy Andrews two nil. Bruce Andrews did manage to take another leg for the away side as he came away a 2-0 winner over Bob Stowe. Final Score 5-2.
The Workers were away to the Wheatsheaf Weedon in the last of the night’s matches and they got off to a bad start as Robert Michael and Willie Taylor then the Taylor pairing of James and Gavin both went down 2-0 to Mick Doney and Lee Arnold followed by Roy Osbourne and Andy Smith.
Into the singles and Bryan Farmer hit a 144 finish on his way to a win over J Geary. James Taylor halted the winning ways of the home side in his game against Roy Osbourne as he took the game 2-0.
D Lovell kept the ball rolling for Workers as he repeated this score against Lee Arnold, however Gavin Taylor could not keep the momentum going as he skidded to a halt losing out to Luke Clements by two legs to one. Mick Doney then sealed the night for the home side as he then defeated Allan Taylor 2-1. Final Score 5-2.
