Paul Diggin says Saints are full of belief as they prepare to return to Premiership action.
Hooker Charlie Clare scored his first try for the club and Sam Olver kicked 14 points as Saints beat Gloucester 19-13 in the Anglo-Welsh Cup encounter at Franklin’s Gardens on Saturday.
It was their third successive win in all competitions and they will look to make it four in a row by winning at Worcester Warriors on Friday night.
And coach Diggin feels Saints will be in good shape for their return to league action, in which they have won three of their seven matches so far this season.
“It’s a good win, it’s five out of seven going back into the league so we’ve put ourselves in a really good, confident position and we’re looking forward to next week already,” said the former Saints winger.
So which youngsters who have been on show during the past two weeks have put their hand up for a place in the squad at Sixways next week?
“It’s hard to say because we’ve obviously got so much quality that we’ve rested for the past couple of weeks, but obviously we’ve got the likes of Rory Hutchinson, who has grown into the position, and Lewis Ludlum, who has introduced himself to the Saints family,” Diggin said.
“It’s also lovely to see Jamie Elliott and Ben Nutley back after injury.”
