Caseys snatch league victory

THE first game this week saw DWMC B visit Caseys and the home side took the pairs game thanks to a 3-0 win for Dave Summerfield (125, 100) and Chris Gay (135) over Lee Astill and Gav Taylor.

The away side hit back with singles wins for James Taylor (160, 100, 112s x 2) 2-1 over Nigel Turland (100 x 3) and Dave Keating (123, 100 x 2, 100s) 3-0 over Mark Taylor (119, 100).

But the home side stormed back with wins for John Gaul (139, 122, 116, 100) 2-1 over Tony Leedham (100), Dave Summerfield (100 x 3) 3-0 over Rich Ludlow (135) and Chris Gay (100) 3-0 over Willie Taylor (120) to give Caseys an overall 12-6 win.

Game two saw Long Buckby FC play hosts to Con Club in a thriller.

The away side took the pairs when Ivan Lester (100 x 2) and Ray Hobrow (140, 121) beat Mick Feasey (100 x 6) and Pete Shirley 2-1. But the home side drew level when Ray Feasey (135, 114) beat Robin Peasland (140, 100) 2-1.

The away side went ahead again when Ray Hobrow (140, 100 x 3, 142s) beat Joe Gammidge 3-0 but Ian Bow (140, 100 x 5) beat Brian Seal 3-0 to draw level again. Ivan Lester (140 x 2, 100) beat Geb Berrill (100) 2-1 to put Con Club back in front for the third time. But a home win for Mick Feasey (140, 100) 3-0 over Stuart Coe Snr gave Long Buckby FC an overall 10-8 victory.

Game three saw The Peppermill at home to Wheatsheaf Weedon A and the home side got off to a flying start when taking the pairs game 3-0 thanks to Paul Butler and Alex Miller (140, 100) over Bully and Mick Doney (100).

The away side took the first two singles games when Ozzy (100 x 4, 103s) beat Clive Hart (100, 108s) 2-1 and Brian Farmer (100) beat Troy Miller (140 x 2) 2-1.

The home side went clear again when Paul Butler (107, 100 x 3, 100f) beat Mick Doney (140, 105, 100 x 2) 3-0 but away wins for Max Murray (100 x 2, 120s) 2-1 over Alex Miller (100 x 2) and Bully (122, 100 x 2) 3-0 over Keith Chapman (133) meant the final score was a 9-all draw.

Leaders DWMC A were at home to defending champions Slim Jims in game four. This proved to be a one-sided encounter.

The home side took the pairs game when Ray Jones (125) and David Brockwell (115, 100 x 2) beat Rich Denis (100s) and Sam Harris (100, 85) 3-0. The away side took the opening singles game when Sam Harris (110, 85, 81 x 3) beat CJ (105 x 2, 100, 102s) 2-1.

Home wins followed for Dave Jones (140, 125) 3-0 over Rachel Lewis (100 x 3, 85, 100s), David Brockwell (140, 105, 100 x 3) 3-0 over Dave Harris (140), Ray Jones (140 x 4, 100, 158s, 101f) 3-0 over Rich Denis (140, 100 x 2, 120s x 2) and Andy Winters (140 x 2, 125, 100) 2-1 over Andy Teale (125, 100).

This gave DWMC A an overall 15-3 win.

The final game saw Wheatsheaf Weedon B at home to Wheatsheaf Braunston. The away side took the pairs with a 3-0 win for Tommy Kendall (132) and Gordy Aldridge (121) over Dave Bangs (140, 135, 100) and H.

Away singles wins came for Gavin Taylor (100) 2-1 over Pete Steele (140, 135, 100), Glen Thompson 2-1 over Dave Bangs and Adie Maybury 2-1 over Tom Babbings.

Paul Marsh (100) recorded a win for the home side when beating Gordy Aldridge (100) 3-0 but a final game win for Swanny (140, 135, 125) 2-1 over H (81, 80) gave Wheatsheaf Braunston an overall 11-7 win.

Performances of the week came from James Taylor (112 start x 2), Ray Hobrow (142 start), Max Murray (120 start), Paul Butler (100 finish), Ray Jones (158 start and 101 finish), Rich Denis (120 start x 2), Rachel Harris (100 start).
