Buckby FC bag hard-fought win

THE first game this week saw Long Buckby FC visit The Peppermill.

They got off to a great start taking the pairs game 2-1 when Ian Bow (100 x 3, 103f) and Ged Berrill beat Paul Butler (100, 112s) and Stuart Marshall.

This was followed by a win in the opening singles game for Ray Feasey 2-1 over Keith Chapman.

The home side closed the gap when Clive Hart (140, 115, 100 x 2) beat Pete Shirley (135, 102, 100) 2-1.

But an away win for Ian Bow (103, 100 x 4, 135f, 120s) 3-0 over Callum Miller (105, 100) stretched the lead again.

Troy Miller gained a 3-0 home win over Joe Gammidge (134) to set up a thrilling finish where Mick Feasey (140 x 2, 135) held his nerve to beat Paul Butler (100 x 4) 2-1 and give Long Buckby FC a hard-fought 10-8 win overall.

Leaders DWMC A entertained Wheatsheaf Weedon A in game two and this game was dominated by the champions-elect.

Dave Jones (140, 123, 100) and Wadey (125) took the pairs game 3-0 against Mick Doney (140, 100) and Bully.

This was followed by singles wins for Wadey (140, 112, 120s) 2-1 over Ozzy (180, 100 x 2, 120s), David Brockwell (100 x 2) 2-1 over Mick Doney (140, 100 x 4), CJ (100 x 3, 152s) 2-1 over Max Murray (131, 100 x 2), Ray Jones (132, 119, 100) 3-0 over Debs Farrant (96, 83, 80s) and Dave Jones (125, 100 x 2) 2-1 over Bully (100).

This gives DWMC A a 14-4 overall win and virtually guarantees them the title.

Game three saw Con Club visit Olde Sun and the home side dominated. They took the pairs game when Dale Collins (123, 121) and Lee Arnold (100) gained a 2-1 win over Robin Peasland and Ray Hobrow (100).

This was followed by singles wins for Luke Clements 2-1 over Stuart Coe Jnr, Dale Collins (140, 100 x 2, 110f, 120s) 3-0 over Simon Adkins (100) and Lee Arnold 3-0 over Robin Peasland (121).

Stuart Coe Snr (123, 112) gained a consolation win for Con Club when he beat Rory Smallbone (120, 100) 2-1. But a final home win for Glenn Kilgour 2-1 over Ray Hobrow (100) gave Olde Sun a convincing 13-5 win overall.

Wheatsheaf Braunston were unable to field a side for their game, so Slim Jims are awarded a 10-0 win.

Performances of the week came from Ian Bow (135 and 103 finishes, 120 start, 11 x 100+ on the night), Ozzy (180 and 120 start), Wadey (120 start), CJ (152 start), Debs Farrant (80 start) and Dale Collins (110 finish and 120 start).
