Brilliant Buckby snatch victory in must-win clash

FOR Long Buckby, this game was a must-win in order to leapfrog rivals Grantham in the league.

The team got off to a slow start but pressure, forcing the keeper into a mistake, earned a penalty corner which was clinically smashed in to the corner by Mike Grimsdale.

Buckby soon doubled the lead through a sharp counter-attack completed by a lethal strike from Liam Brown.

Mike Grimsdale scored two more goals in open play to earn himself a hat-trick before half-time and give the Bucks a comfortable lead at the break.

Buckby continued to threaten in the second half, passing with speed and precision in midfield and creating further chances in the opposition half.

Liam Brown then struck once again 15 minutes from time to complete the emphatic win.

Grantham pressed for a consolation goal late on but the Buckby defence were resolute and earned the team their first clean sheet of the season.
