CROPREDY Lawn trainer Paul Webber has a clutch of runners entered for Towcester’s Easter Sunday meeting when the action is due to get underway at 2.25pm.

Webber was on target at the Northants track last Tuesday evening with the David Allen-owned Edgebury, which could return on Sunday to contest the Play Slots At totesport.com Handicap Hurdle over 2m at 3.25.

A single runner at Towcester on Monday afternoon saw Autumn Red finish third behind 12/1 scorer Arctic Echo and Jolly Boys Outing from Rosemary Gasson’s Shutford yard in the 3m handicap chase, so raiders from the Webber stable are still very much in the groove.

Webber’s Don’t Tell Nina was having his first run in more than two months when fourth to Sonny Mullen in the 2m novices’ handicap chase last week, and holds entries in both a 2m 6f novices’ handicap on Sunday, as well as the 3m handicap chase so an extra stamina test looks on the cards for this son of Beneficial.

Ben Case will be anxious to see rain for Handtheprizeover who is entered in the novices’ handicap chase, although trainers and jockeys alike were fulsome in their praise for the course on Monday after extensive work from the sprinklers over the weekend.

Case’s stable jockey Charlie Poste notched a fourth Towcester success of the 2010/11 season on Monday when he scored on the Milton Harris-trained Speedy Directa, and now only has a certain Tony McCoy ahead of him in that particular sphere!

Towcester’s Monday meeting continued the recent landmark trend when the course stayed in the national limelight. In the last month it has witnessed the country’s first-ever void race with none of the runners completing after falls, a 2,000th career win for jockey Robert Thornton and a 100th winner of the season for Grand National winning trainer Donald McCain who was on hand to receive a bottle of champagne to mark the occasion after the success of Ballabrook, who is no relation to Ballabriggs!

The Easter Sunday attraction will offer a full range of activities as part of its Family Fun Day theme. Face painters, a climbing wall, crazy golf, an inflatable bungee run, an inflatable laser tag plus Humphrey from Humphrey’s Corner are all lined up as attractions.
