Daventry Athletic Club’s Under 17 team completed their summer league programme at Leamington on Sunday.

In the final Heart of England League Division Three match, the club finished sixth on the day resulting in a disappointing sixth place finish overall.

There were, however, some outstanding individual performances most notably from 12-year-old Leon Martin-Evans who won the under-13 boys high jump competition with a clearance of 1.58m.

This height was an improvement of 5cm on Leon’s club record and places him joint second in the UK rankings.

To complete a good day he also won the Long Jump with 4.37m and placed third in the 100 metres.

Megan Owen, who is 15, who was a silver medallist in the triple jump and high jump in the Midland Championships the previous weekend, finished her
excellent season with wins in the under-17 women’s 100m and 80m hurdles plus a third place in the l ong jump.

Also in this age group, Paige Hobbs finished second in the 800m and third in the 300m.

In the under-15 age group, Sam Aris won the boys’ 1500m while Emily Sanderson had a hat trick of second places in the girls’ 100m (13.4), 200m and long jump (4.54m).
