Key victories for players
All six Daventry squash teams were in league action last week with each team picking up key wins with fantastic individual performances.
In the first division, Daventry 1 scored an emphatic 18-1 win over Lings 1. Daventry's top player Scott Bates returned to action and looked like he had never been away scoring an impressive
3-0 win.
This was followed by wins for Ryan Spragg, Mark Street, Nick Murley and Andy Machin. To win by such a huge margin is a
fantastic achievement and will hopefully be the springboard for Daventry 1 to finish the season strongly. Results: 1. Scott Bates 3 – 0 Alastair Wingfield, 2. Ryan Spragg 3 – 0 Simon Philips, 3. Mark Street 3 – 0 Toby Westall, 4. Nick Murley 3 – 1 Mark Rapps, 5. Andy Machin 3 – 0 Martin Sawyer. Star Man: Andy Machin.
Also in Division One, Daventry 2 picked up a win over Saints 1, with a solid 15-5 victory. This was a much-needed win for the team who have been struggling to consistently win games this season.
Strong performances from Keith Morgan, Stewart
Williams, John McGrath and Joe Bodenstein secured the win for Daventry. The only disappointment being that Mitch Bates could not secure the whitewash.
Jubilant captain John McGrath said: "a fantastic result for us tonight and some valuable points to help us climb the table."

In Division Two, Daventry 3 took on Desborough 2, in a top-of-the-table clash.
Daventry 3 have a real chance of promotion to Division One so it was important to continue the good form. This was delivered with another huge victory, with the team winning 18-2.
Pete Tiffen, Joe
Bodenstein, Jon Maynard and Colin Bendel all secured 3-0 victories and Simon Wallis rounding off with a 3-2 win. Captain Joe Bodenstein was delighted with the performance but was disappointed not to score an 18-0 whitewash.

In Division Three,
Daventry 4 had the toughest match of the week against top-of-the-table Kettering Rugby 3. Fielding a patched up side due to injuries to key players, Daventry 4 had a tough task ahead of them.
Several inspired performances secured a narrow 14-10 win, which sets up Daventry 4 nicely for a title push. Good wins for Joe Bodenstein and Phil Mansell set up the victory, which was secured by Alan Thorogod.
Defeats for Simon Kember and Michael Wade who put in a fantastic effort on his return from shoulder surgery despite losing narrowly 2-3. Results: 1. Simon Kember 0 – 3 Jonathon Sharp, 2. Joe Bodenstein 3 – 1 Jack Follett, 3. Phil Mansell 3 – 2 Wayne Kilborn, 4. Michael Wade 2 – 3 Nick Wilkins, 5. Alan Thorogod 3 – 1 Andrew Young. Star Man: Alan Thorogod.
Also in Division Three, Daventry 5 looked to
continue their winning streak against bottom-of-the-table Lings 3. This match went with the form book with Daventry comfortably winning the match 16-6.
Wins for Ben Smallwood, Colin Bendel, Jim Simpson and Ben Humpage secured the win.
Captain Austin Humphrey was particularly pleased with Ben Smallwood who was playing at number one for the first time and Jim Simpson who received a late call-up and still won emphatically.
The only surprise was that Roy Free did not continue his recent good form and
suffered a heavy 1-3 defeat.

Finally, Daventry 5 were in action against a struggling Lings 5 team. Despite the pressure of expecting to win, Daventry 6 delivered with a good 15-6 win.
Richard Jones, Ben Humpage, Nigel Berriman and Steve Loydall all picked up the required wins to give Daventry the victory.
Captain Steve
Wightman was the only player to lose suffering a heavy 3-0 defeat in a game he felt he should have won. Results: 1. Steve Loydall 3 – 0 Brent Galloway, 2. Ben Humpage 3 – 2 Stuart Millward, 3. Steve Wightman 0 – 3 Kenny Watson, 4. Nigel Berriman 3 – 0 Mick Abraham, 5. Richard Jones 3 – 1 Mike Weedon. Star Man: Steve Loydall
