Junior football round up

Thorplands Club 81 U11 White 7 Byfield Tigers U11 2

BYFIELD got off to an impressive start with an early goal from Keir Wood.

But the talented and well-organised Thorplands team then took control and, despite hard work from Noah Tiffen and Gwil Jones in defence, Byfield went in at half-time 3-1 behind.

The second-half saw chances aplenty and both teams hit the woodwork.

In the first-half, Thorplands made more of their chances and although Keir Wood added a second for Byfield, they conceded a further four goals, to end up well beaten at 7-2.

The result leaves mid-table Byfield still seeking their first away victory.

Daventry Town Vikings U11s 3
Towcester Tigers 2

TIGERS were unlucky to have two goals disallowed in the first three minutes.

Man of the match was Leon Duly who had an outstanding game.

Oliver Starling scored the opening goal. Tigers won a penalty in the 20th minute but an excellent save from Daventry keeper Ryan Adams kept the Tigers at bay. Ryan Thompson got his first goal for the club this season but Tigers won a penalty in the 44th minute from which they scored. Then Oliver Starling played Thomas Kempster in to go round the keeper and score making it 3-1 to Daventry.

But Tigers scored again to make the end result 3-2 to Daventry Town.
