RUGBY School played host to the MCC in their annual fixture on Tuesday against the side from the home of cricket and two of Barby’s sides who were able to get valuable game time under their belts.
In an invitation side, ably skippered by Rugby CC stalwart and ex-Rugby School captain Charlie Robards, the MCC won the toss and elected to bat.
They gained 186 before declaring at the half way point of the game.
For the MCC, Barby opener Simon Gear top scored with 50 with Rob Field, also of Barby, unbeaten on 33.
It proved to be an all round good day for Gear who came on to bowl with two overs left.
He broke a stubbon last-wicket partnership to take the final wicket.
