Gaby Zakuani has overcome the knock he received to his head during Saturday’s win at Shrewsbury Town and is available for selection for the Sky Bet League One clash with Bury this weekend.
The central defender was withdrawn at half-time at the Greenhaus Meadow on medical advice, but the 30-year-old trained as normal on Monday and will be considered for selection on Saturday.
“Gabs had to come off due to the knock to his head, but he trained yesterday so he is fine,” said Town manager Rob Page on Tuesday morning.
There are no other injury issues at Sixfields with Page saying the squad is ‘fighting fit’, but on the down side top scorer Alex Revell will be unavailable as he is suspended after picking up five bookings.
Revell is set to be replaced in the target man role by captain Marc Richards, while the Cobblers are also be boosted by the return of midfielder Matt Taylor, who has completed his three-match ban for his sending off at Scunthorpe United.
Asked whether Taylor would be going straight back into the starting line-up, Page was non-committal, but hinted that may be the case.
“Matty is back in contention and he has been outstanding for us all season,” said Page.
“Everybody will have to wait and see what the decision is on that one, but I don’t think he’ll be too far away.
“Somebody of Matty’s quality you have to respect, and in my opinion he was harshly done by with the sending off and the suspension.
“But there is a long time between now and the weekend and anything can happen, so we will wait and see and make a decision on Friday.”
