Daventry Town Vikings Under-11s had to work hard to claim a narrow victory over local rivals Long Buckby.

Scorers: Cameron Waldock, Daniel Ward

Team: Daniel Ward, Megan Critchley, Keenan French, Reagan Gibson, Lee Smith, Cameron Waldock, Finn Hourigan, Ben Kaye, Max Adams, Kian Humpage, Daniel Brown, Isaac Parkinson

Report: A strong Buckby start kick-started Daventry into actio. Fantastic shots from Finn and Ben went close, before Cameron collected the ball just past the halfway line, ran at the defence and powered a shot past the keeper. After 17 minutes it was 2-0, with Dan W blasting a penalty home. Long Buckby refused to lie down and got a goal back to make it 2-1. The second half was a strong, physical battle, with both sides having chances to score, but the scoreline remained the same.

Noel delivers double as Blisworth are sunk

Taylor Noel scored twice as Daventry Town Saxons Under-11s claimed a 4-2 John Henry League win over Blisworth.

Scorers: Charlie Trayford, Taylor Noel 2, Jonathon Fletcher

Team: Decklyn Hartley, Charlie Trayford, Alex Smith, Dylan Overton, Dan Faulkner, Joseph Pursey, Hannah Ridgewell, Taylor Noel, Jack Hancock, Nayan Bryce, Joshua Adams, Jonathon Fletcher

Report: Saxons made it four wins out of four to maintain their perfect start to the

season, but had to dig deep to withstand a determined second half fight back from Blisworth. Saxons broke the deadlock when Taylor Noel fired home. This was swiftly followed by his second which was a super solo effort. On the stroke of half time, man-of-the match Johnny Fletcher scored his first goal for the team to make it 3-0. Saxons scored their fourth goal early in the second half when Taylor teed up Charlie Trayford. At 4-0, Saxons took their foot off the pedal and allowed Blisworth back into the game by conceding two soft goals. Blisworth sensed the possibility of a remarkable comeback, but Joe Pursey and Alex Smith defended well to keep it at 4-2.

Vikings stunned by second-half collapse

Oliver Starling’s two goals weren’t enough to stop Daventry Town Vikings Under-12s from a heavy defeat against Bilton Ajax.

Scorers: Christopher Gunter, Oliver Starling 2

Team: Riley Marklew, Thomas Kempster, Thomas Brentnall, Joseph Bannister, Christopher Gunter, Thomas Fish, Oliver Starling, William Bellis, Joshua Harding, Ryan Adams, Harry Maund, Alex Clift, Oliver Bates

Report: Daventry started well and took the lead after 11 minutes through MOM Starling. Bilton hit back to level, but Daventry again went ahead, with Starling again on the mark and at half-time they were 3-1 up thanks to a well-taken Chris Gunter goal. In the second half, Daventry thought they had the game in the bag but Bilton had other ideas and six second-half goals sealed a 7-3 win.

Brown’s the boy as Daventry march on

Daventry Town Under-13s continued their 100 per cent record with a 4-1 victory against Bilton.

Scorers: Shaun Bragg, Tom Brown 2, Blaine Chatwin

Team: Jack Gilbert, Jack Ramsden, Harry Norton, Jordan Drew, James Davey, Min Promjit, Oskar Challice, Blaine Chatwin, Ben Robinson, Jamie Holmes, Archie Martin, Tom Brown, Shaun Bragg

Report: The first half was tightly contested with plenty of chances for Daventry which were well defended by Bilton. Daventry’s keeper Jack Ramsden pulled off three one-on-one saves while the back line of James, Harry, Min, Jack Gilbert and Jordan ensured that the half time score was 0-0. Early in the second half the deadlock was broken when Shaun tapped in and this was soon followed by two well-taken goals from Tom. Bilton pulled a goal back towards the end but any worries of a comeback were ended by a superb header from Blaine.
