Daventry Town Vikings lost out in a penalty shootout against Kingsthorpe Buccaneers in the John Henry Under-11 Plate Competition.

The match ended 1-1 after extra-time, with Vikings then losing 2-1 on spot kicks.

Scorer: Cameron Waldock

Team: Daniel Ward, Megan Critchley, Keenan French, Reagan Gibson, Lee Smith, Cameron Waldock, Finn Hourigan, Ben Kaye, Max Adams, Kian Humpage, Daniel Brown, Isaac Parkinson

Report: A very close game which was taken to extra time with an equaliser from Cameron after good defensive work from Keenan and Ben who put Cameron in on goal. He still had work to do and went past two defenders before slotting past the keeper. In extra time it looked liked Ben was going to steal the win but somehow a Kingsthorpe player cleared it from just behind the line, and it stayed 1-1. In the penalty shoot out all DTFC players hit the target only for the keeper to save four of them. In contrast Kingsthorpe missed the target three times but scored 2 giving them the result.

Wooldale prove too strong for Vikings

Daventry Town Vikings had a bad day as they were knocked out of the John Henry League Trade Cup, 7-2 at the hands of Wooldale.

Scorers: Christopher Gunter, William Bellies

Team: Ryan Adams, Thomas Kempster, Thomas Brentnall, Joseph Bannister, Christopher Gunter, , Lewis Alford, Oliver Starling, William Bellies, Jordan Oliver, Alex Clift, Riley Marklew, Thomas Fisher

Report: Away game in the cup for Daventry, and they took the lead in the third minute with a goal from Chris Gunter. Wooldale hit back and it was 4-1 at the break. Daventry pressed hard for the first 10 minutes of the second half and looked like they were getting back into the game, and a well taken free kick from William Bellies made it 4-2, but Wooldale hit hard and scored again and with this the Daventry boys sat back and gave in, end of game result 7-2.
